Motivated riders longing for victory and spectators full of expectations were gathering at the mighty Dachstein last Saturday – The QParks Snowboard Tour ended with a big bang at the Blue Tomato Roof Battle at the Superpark Dachstein. Read on to find out who bagged in the gold medals and who won the overall Tour ranking.
After a couple of months of traveling around Austria, Italy, Germany and Switzerland, the QParks Tour made its last stop for this season at the Dachstein Glacier on the 16th of April, 2016. During the course of the 9 preceding tour stops, the snowboarders were competing to collect the coveted QParks Tour points, which, in the end, allowed them to participate in the legendary finals at the Superpark Dachstein.
Already at the start of the contest day one thing became clear – the Dachstein Glacier would definitely live up to its reputation once again. Powerful gusts of wind led to unstable conditions at the setup and hence the grand finals were relocated to the similarly challenging jib line for safety reasons. The young riders nailed countless massive moves onto a 9m Rainbow Tube, a 14m Down/ Flat/ Down Rail and an 11m A-Frame Box – and certainly offered the judges and the audience a memorable final tour stop.
The Winners of the Day at the Blue Tomato Roof Battle
You could already sense the riders’ determination to bag the victory during the first couple of runs; with a massive cash prize of about 1500€, various goodies by Blue Tomato, Anon, Neff, Amplifi and QParks, as well as the chance of becoming the overall winner of the tour, there was loads to win and nothing to lose. At the end of the day, Jacco Bos from the Netherlands wasn’t only able to win in the snowboard men category, he also stomped the best trick, a BS 180 to cab 360 out on the Rainbow Tube. In the snowboard women ranking the young Slovenian rider Kaja Verdnik laid down an impressive performance and made her way to the top of the podium.
The Overall Winners of the QParks Snowboard Tour 2015/16 are…
During the finals the riders weren’t only competing for the victory of the day, but also for the overall victory of the entire QParks Tour, which was endowed with an impressive cash prize of 3350€. Winning the first prize in the competition of the day, the snowboarder Jacco Bos also managed to score the overall victory of the QParks Tour 2015/16 last Saturday. At the girls Tinkara Tanja Valcl (SI) was crowned the overall champ of the tour. In the categories Groms Men and Women Stan Pauli (NL) and Tinkara Tanja Valcl (SI) stepped on the top of the podium and were very excited about their first QParks Tour overall victories.
